September 26 Back in Cebu I am back in Cebu and have been for nearly three weeks. There are many things I have wanted to write about and I am just now sitting done to write some of them. My trip to the USA was great! I was able to see a lot of people and also able to relax. Telling people about CSC and my past year there, helped reassure me that CSC is the place for me. When I returned to CSC and walked into the shelter, it was hard to keep my balance with so many kids trying to give me a hug at the same time! Though I was only gone three weeks many of the kids had changed. They do not take any breaks when it comes to growing up. Brothers Weeno and Melrod have been reluctant to put forth effort in communicating. Now they each greet me and Weeno even starts conversations. Of course the toddlers had changed a lot in that short time also. They are even faster runners than when I left and their vocabularies are reaching staggering levels. Since I returned, CSC hosted a praise night and invited two other homes for children. It was a great time to worship God through song with many others. Follow this link to see Praise Night at CSC. Also, I have been able to see the progress on the new residential and medical buildings. Three weeks does not seem like a long time, but so much can happen in that short time. Here are some videos of things that happened recently. Uncle Paul and I challenged the kids to a Reading Challenge for the first quarter of school. If they met their reading goals they could throw Uncle Paul in a pool and I would have to ride a carabao (water buffalo). The kids won! Here is footage of Paul and I each paying for the kids zeal for reading! Paul thrown in the drink. Joel rides a smelly carabao. Recently I received the Slider Pledge. Eat White Castle Slider to raise money for CSC! Here is how it went down. |
